FAQ's

Where is my jewellery coming from?

I send everything via the Irish Postal Service; An Post, from Miltown Malbay in Co. Clare, Ireland. So for all orders sent to within the EU, there will be NO customs or duties to pay on your orders with Taer Jewellery. All orders going outside the EU will have to pay taxes and duties, depending on your country.

How Long will my piece take to ship?

I try to always have website purchases out within 2 working days of your order date, and I generally ship twice a week Tuesdays and Thursdays. If you're in a rush / concerned, just send me a message on email aisling@taerjewellery.com or instagram and I'll answer your concerns.

Will I be able to track my order?

Most parcels are sent by standard untracked post. If you prefer to be able to track your order, please make sure to choose 'tracked' shipping at checkout.

Do you do repair work?

I will always repair my own work, please just get in touch. However I just don't have the time / resources to do other repair work. Most local goldsmith / jewellery retail shops will be happy to offer repair work though, I recommend bringing your piece into them to have a chat.

How will I care for my new jewellery?

All my pieces are made using solid sterling silver and gold and gold plated sterling silver. Sterling silver can develop a tarnish over time, but don't worry, this is just a surface stain, nothing a good silver polishing cloth wont fix.

I recommend keeping your jewellery in an airtight box, in a dry room (or even a zip lock bag is great). Keep your jewellery away from harsh chemicals (creams, cleaning products, perfumes etc) this is especially important for jewellery with porous gemstones like turquoise and also gold plated pieces.

*please note that vigorous polishing or hard wearing on gold plated pieces will make the gold plating wear off much faster, to keep your gold plated pieces gold, take extra care with above recommendations.

Where do you source your materials?

The source of my materials is something I think a lot about. Where possible I use recycled silver and gold. I get this from my supplier in Dublin NNEnterprise, and also from www.cooksongold.com in the UK. While buying eco metal is a start, I would love to use only fairtrade metals. Its not available to me at the moment, but I am working towards it.

The gemstone industry is a pretty unregulated one. I source most of my gemstones directly from lapidry artists (stone cutters) in the States and Pakistan who buy rough stone directly from mines they trust. A lot of my ethics around this is based on trust and transparency. It is absolutely a work in progress and is by no means perfect. But I am striving to do better all the time and am always open to dialogue around this. If you have any queries about where exactly your gemstone comes from, please do just ask.

Can you recreate a piece of jewellery for me?

I do not copy other artists work. I work mostly from an intuitive place, so recreating or copying work isn't really my jam. However if you like my style and would like to chat about having a unique piece created for you, I will be more than happy to talk with you about this.

How will I know my ring size?

You can order a little disposable ring sizer here if you wish. Or you can pop into any local jewellers, they are usually happy to help you find your ring size.

Please don't guess. Ring sizes go up in half millimeters. So, if you're unsure at all, just get in touch, I'll be happy to talk you through it.

Do you ship outside of Ireland?

I ship all over the world. Orders outside of the EU may have to pay customs or duties, please check with your individual country for rates.

Do you accept returns?

I absolutely do. My customer's happiness is the most important thing to me, so if you are unhappy in any way with your purchase, please don't hesitate to get in touch within 28 days of receiving. Please note though, as a small micro business, I cannot currently afford to absorb the cost of return shipping. However, I will issue a full refund as soon as I receive the item back, in the condition with which you received it.

Do you gift wrap?

I sure do. I love wrapping. Everything is wrapped as a gift anyways, with minimal recycled and eco packaging. Plus if you leave me a message in the comment box when you purchase, I can write a note from you and send it directly to your intended if you wish.
