Hand crafted in the Taer Studios on the wild Atlantic way in Co. Clare using eco silver and this beautiful one of a kind raw faceted ruby. Available in Size P. But can be sized UP one size.
Rubies are part of the conundrum family (which is made up of sapphires and rubies) and are second in hardness on the Mohs scale only after diamonds. This ruby has not been glass filled or coloured which is why it hasn't got that classic red often associated with rubies. It's faceted face gives a light subtle shine, but this one is more about the colour than the sparkle. A cool dusky pink, with a hint of purple and slight tinges of a warm brown running throughout (although the brown tones might be debated, depending on how you see it yourself!)
This ruby has an odd shape, and so the setting has been shaped around it to compliment it, but not in the traditional perfect way. I'm quite fond of odd shapes and uneven settings, so each stone that I come to work with will get their own individual setting shape. Whatever feels right for it. There is no exact template. Only a style.
This one feels a lot like very still clear waters sitting around the ruby, protecting it somehow but still showing it off. And because this ruby is more about the colour than the sparkle, I have polished the silver to a high shine to create a lovely contrast.
There is onlyone of this specific ring. So when it is gone, that will be it. But I do have more ruby's and gems, equally lovely, but not the same. So if you'd like your own specific ring made just for you, please do get in touch. I love to work with you, the clients, to create pieces with you that you really love. And if you are unsure, I am very happy to discuss pricing and potential designs, with absolutely no obligation on you to buy.
