These contemporary Irish earrings are based on the "Magic Faraway Tree" books by Enid Blyton, because they look like a tree trunk cut into thin slices and hollowed out with the bark texture left on the outside.
"In the wood is the Faraway Tree — a huge tree inhabited by fairy-folk and laden with fruit of all kinds from acorns to lemons. Its topmost branches lead to ever-changing magical lands above the swirling clouds."
Carefully hand crafted using eco silver in the Taer Studios in West Clare.
Like the tree is different at every turn, so are these Tree earrings; each circle stud and circle pendant is made individually. Each one is first shaped and soldered closed, then slightly melted to give the rough effect, which will vary slightly from earring to earring. They are then filed down on top and bottom to give a reallly smooth contrasting finish, leaving the rough texture on the outside. The earrings are then oxidised slightly to show the rough effect on the outside and then polished to a high shine at the front.
Because these earrings are all individually made, each one will vary slightly in measurements, however:
The studs are apporximately 6mm in diameter.
The pendant circles hanging are roughly 0.8mm - 10mm in diameter.
They hang 7.5cm's long.
I believe in a well wrapped gift, nice presentation feels like thought and planning has gone into it. I however, do not believe in destroying the earth for it. Every piece of Taer Jewellery is carefully gift wrapped in recycled packaging, from the logo embossed matt grey box, to the business cards. There will never be any plastic in your packaging from Taer, and everything is fully recyclable again.
